Vishwa Shroff“Still round the corner there may wait, a new road or a secret gate” wrote J. R. R. Tolkien in his poem “the road goes ever on”, and it does, but corners within the city become stopping points, albeit with (confused) navigation or destination in mind, but these stoppages allow that momentary taking note of what sits there.
As I walk around the Chuo line neighbourhood of Tokyo day after day, the observations of these same corners change. What I see on one day is often not the same as the next, sometimes adding to the pervious note, sporadically disparate, periodically morphed. Through this project I will first make a note of these corners, bringing them back into the studio and dealing with the collected imagery; sharing the process as I go along. |
